War, What is it Good for?: Absolutely Everything!

After watching the health care summit meeting by Obama I decided that I wanted to learn more about the meeting. After reading several news articles I came across this quote, “the biggest mistake Democrats face is having too many expectations. Democrats are hoping for a story-book ending that just will not happen….if [Democrats] wait too long to accomplish anything productive, it will be too late as they will find their seats vacated after the midterm elections. Unite and vote the bill through already.”

This quote really made me think, because its true, Democrats think that everything can turn out like a Disney Chanel movie, where everything is resolved and everyone feels happy. I believe that this is the Democrat’s downfall. Because in the end there is nothing that will make EVERYONE happy. The ends justify the means and you must make some people unhappy to do the right thing. If everyone was happy all the time there would be no war, no poverty, but sadly in the times we live in this will never happen. Nothing every gets done if people constantly tip toe around being mean or aggressive. War is a part of life, it is what made America, yes it is sad that people die, but the sad truth is that, the world needs war. It may sound ironic, but if there was not war, more people would die. There would be genocides or even holocausts that would go unanswered. People would just argue about what to do, but in the end there would be nothing to do, nothing would get done.

Democrats get nothing done because they think that they can get everything done.  Democrats need to stop talking and begin to realize that they cannot make the world perfect without making someone unhappy.

Pregnancy: An Inconvience or a Gift

Sex seems to be a topic widely discussed topic in the bible. Gods covenant with Abraham was that if Abraham worshipped God, God in return would make Abraham’s offspring plentiful. It seems as though keeping his bloodline going strong is the most important thing to Abraham. Abraham would do anything for God because he wants to have many descendants. In the Bible having descendent is such a coveted thing that, like in the case of Lot’s daughters, people would resort to incest.

In modern times getting pregnant and having a baby seems to be the last desire on anyone’s list. There are people actually getting abortions and killing the baby’s. To me this seems selfish. In the Bible what people wanted more then anything was to have kids. If a women was barren they were sad for they could not accomplish what they truly desired, a strong bloodline. These people getting abortions seem selfish to me. They actually were able to get pregnant, yet they aborted the child. They aborted the child because they did not want it; they did this while there were literally people weeping over the inability to conceive in the bible.

On modern television jokes about men not wanting to get a girl pregnant is a reoccurring theme. It appears that the last thing any of these men want it to have a child. It is clear that the society today is unlike how it is in the Bible.

Beating up Oneself

After reading the bible so far I have noticed that fraternal conflict is a large reoccurring idea. This idea of fraternal conflict got me thinking about brothers fighting now a day. Though the fighting does not usually elevate to the levels of Cain and Abel (and by that I mean murder) brothers fighting can get pretty dangerous at times.

Now after seeing it repetitively in the Bible with Cain and Abel, Esau and Jacob I have started to think that fraternal conflict is not such a rare thing, but that it is part of human nature. I do not know of one boy who gets along perfectly with his brother. Most boys have stories about getting beaten up by their older brother. I am unsure of what it is that makes brothers fight so much. One would think that someone would get along with someone else that so closely resembles themselves. Maybe it is that the brothers are vying for attention from their parents that causes them to fight. It could be even deeper then that. A twin could beat up his brother because he does not like what he sees, but because he is hurting a spitting image of himself, it is showing that the brother does not actually hate his twin, but hates himself.

Whatever the reason, fraternal conflicts have happened throughout history and are still happening today.

Is There Such Thing as Justified Death?

Do the bad have the right to live? Do they have the same right to life as those free of sin do? God tells Noah, “I have determined to make an end of all flesh, for all of earth was corrupt.” (Gen 6.5) This statement immediately made me think of the death penalty in America. Some people think that penalty under death is wrong. These people believe that any life, no matter how corrupt is sacred.

However, what if these people cannot be changed? What if they will stay corrupt forever, if they murdered what if they murder again? These are questions that anti death penalty believers must think about. People that are pro death penalty have answered these questions. They believe that there are sins so great that people cannot recover from them. That the only way to stop these corrupted is to kill them.

I have pondered this issue, it was hard for me to come up with where I was on this issue, my main reason because, what if those condemned to death were not guilty? What if they wrongly chosen? There were many people on earth at the time god created the flood, could it not be possible that some of them were good men? Noah was a good man; I believe that means that there could be others.

After diligent thinking I have decided that god was just with his death causing flood. Innocent people may die, but in the long run corrupted people will be taken off of earth. Based off of the assassins, Kill one, save a thousand.

Finally Free to Format How I Like it.

In Genesis (3.7) After God founds out Eve has given Adam an apple from the tree of good and evil, “[Womens] Desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you”. In older cultures (and still today to some extent) people took this statement very seriously and literally. Much like how people use there interpretations of gods words to rationalize there actions (Shiite Muslims being a prime example), people used this statement to rationalize there mistreatment of women. People felt that if god thought something was alright then it must be alright. The problem is that because of either translation errors or just plain interpretational error, god could have meant for this statement to mean many different things. This is why I believe that the words of god must be taken with a grain of salt. People used this quotation as justification for oppression against women so strongly that it was not up until recent years that women were started to get the same rights as men. Yet, even in the year 2012 there are still countries oppressing women. Though this may not be directly related to god’s words, it is a defiantly a possible contributing factor.

Something so Cherished that it became a Part of You

Lyra and the Gyptians need Iorek to have a chance of rescuing the children. When talking about Iorek’s payment this is say, “If Gold is desirable to you we have gold. No good…. War is the sea i swim and the air i breathe. if you want my servise, my price is this, get my armor back”.
There are somethings in life that people cherish and desire even more then money. To each person this is different. It could be a real physical thing like armor or a moral or feeling like love. The one thing in common with all people’s thing that they chersh and desire more then money is that they have a strong mental and physical connection. Iorek “loves” this armor. Infact one could argue that it is part of his soul. Lyra even described his connection with this armor like the connection between a person and his daemon. In the real world money is a big part of most people lives, infact everyone has miserly feeling on the inside. But, there are still things charised more then money. Everyone in the world posseses or yearns to posess something that is part of them, they enjoy it so much, it is part of there soul.
Proposition: It is human nature to have one thing that you love, that is a part of you.

Anti-climactic Endings

The man sat looking out the back seat of a car. He could see the world whizzing past him, dogs barking up trees, squirrels running across telephone wires, and people jogging on bye. The car came to a sudden halt and the door swung open. The man slipped out of the car and onto the pavement. He began to walk up to his front door when he heard gun shots off in the distance. The man threw his front door open and sprinted into his house. He reached for books, desks, and heck anything that he could get a hold of to barricade the door. The man ran upstairs and hid in his bedroom closet. Putting his ear up against the door he could hear banging noises coming from the now barricaded front door. After a short period of time the banging coming from the front door stopped and the bedroom window smashed to bits as a bomb was thrown through the window. From the keyhole on the closet the man could do nothing but slowly watch the bomb’s fuse get smaller, smaller, and even smaller until BANG!! The boy then jerked upright awakened from his deep sleep. “weird dream,” the boy said.
